My reflection

session2pic.JPG

Visuals make something less complicated or easier to understand. It helps the students master the content easily in some extents.  But contradictorily, we have no universal method to decode the visuals.   Like the picture Daniel showed the class this session, a girl dance behind her classmates when she want to presented the concept of flower,  but the result was different from the expectation.  This posed me a question about the education.  What is the destination of the education?  Teacher imparted the knowledge into the students’ brains and they perform in the same way.

You are right. there is a saying “A picture is worth thousand words”. I agree that there is no rule as to how you read a image or interpret a visual. It all depends on the users interpretation.

Your question – What is the destination of the education?

There is no destination. Education is life long. The more you study the more you want to know.

“Teacher imparted the knowledge into the students’ brains and they perform in the same way”

No, they have interpreted the information in their own way as you can see from the picture.

    Yes, I agree.

For teachers, sometimes it is difficult to make sure that all students can be understood in the same way. So the proper use of visual presentation may be one of the solutions to minimize the difference amongst students’ learning. right?

    Rely to Kavitha’s comment:

    Dear Kavitha,

Thanks for your feedback. Firstly, I was totally agreed with you at the point that the education is lifelong. But the word “destination” in the passage means the purpose but not the end. Secondly, in the lower part, I thought that we should reach a balance between cultivating creativity and imparting knowledge.
