Martin and I have made a prototype of our Group Assignment. You can have a look at it by clicking the following link:
Learning Object: The Water Cycle
http://iln.cite.hku.hk/com/1374/users/wclau/grpassgn/index.htm
The following features are yet to be completed:
- The showing of information box(es) when a label (in pale yellow) is clicked. (Currently, only the “Evaporation” label has such feature);
- Further animation effects and interactivities to facilitate the explanation of the water cycle.
Your comments are welcome.
1 May: The prototype is updated. A preloader is added so that viewers can see the progress while the file is loading and the “How is evaporation affected” box is now working.

This is really a good work.. The images and animations are really nice..
My only suggestion is to make the sun and the other tems shown that has explanations that they have to click something to make the user know about it.. like putting a label or a sign..

Dear Paula & Ronda,
Thanks for your appreciation and suggestions. The learning object is under construction so there are still many deficiencies in the operation. The information box would be added and the explanation would be simplified.

Dorothy

Dorothy,
It is a good presentation. You used many skills of Flash which were taught by Daniel for designing your project. Really, it is very beautiful and in details. I am looking forward to seeing your final product.

Emily

Hi Dorothy and Martin,
Beautiful and clear illustrations! Here are my suggestions:
1. simplify the text, perhaps, use bullet points
2. add references
Great work for both of you. Looking forward to see the final product.

Theresa Li

Hi Dorothy
Your prototype is more attractive. I have some comments for your reference:
1) Do you finish the message box such as “Condensation”, “Transpiration” etc? It is because I click them but no response. If not finish, forget this comment.
2) After I clicked into “Evaporation” message box, the “Evaporation” pop-up window is shown, but the “Condensation” cloud was still working at the backward window. If it is specific design, pls forget this comment.
3) In “How is evaporation affected?”,
i. Do you consider using the numbers of arrows and the speed of their movement to reflect the effect of evaporation, rather than the change of size of the arrow?
ii. When I moved the mouse pointer to the word “high” of relative humidity, not drag the button to it, the pointer changed to the finger.
I hope the comment can help your group to produce the complete visual and interactive presentation.

Dear Oscar & Theresa,
Thanks for your appreciation and constructive suggestions. We will take these into our consideration. We are now in the stage of adding the animation but we are encountering a problem on how to reflect the effect of evaporation in form of the numbers of arrows or the speed of their movement, the calculation is so complex.
Regards,
Dorothy

Dear Dorothy,
Your prototype was much better than the previous one. I think your final design for this project will be better than the one you had shown us. I would suggest that you may explain your terms in a detail way. For those who don’t understand the topic may catch your meaning in a easy way.
